It was a black thursday yesterday when two commercial motorcyclists lost their lives in fatal accident that occurred along Ikare-Arigidi road in Akokoland of Ondo state.
SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the carnage was caused by over speeding and wrong overtaking on the part of the okada riders which led to an head-on collision.
Eyewitness account revealed that a school bus was going and one motorcyclist suddenly overtook it and rammed to the other coming from Agbaluku- Arigidi axis leading to their instant death.
Scores of sympathisers were seen when their bodies were being removed from the road.
They attributed it to lack of patience and recklessness.
An Agbaluku, Arigidi-Akoko resident, Alhaji Bakai Momodu, noted that Semusemu to Agbaluku axis of the road to Ajowa-Akoko has always recorded high number of motor accidents because the road is smooth and many usually drive recklessly without caution.
Momodu appealed to the appropriate agencies to organise seminars for road users particularly the okada riders in order to minimise road carnage and reduce loss of lives.
Confirming the incident, the unit commander of Ikare-Akoko Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Ade Alabi also attributed it to recklessness and lack of patience.
